This skill set covers the skills and knowledge required to produce intricate game art, designs and complex characters to develop advanced three-dimensional (3D) digital games in intermediate roles.
The course is perfect for anyone wishing to work in game design and production roles, including senior concept artists and other related intermediate roles, responsible for independently completing art and design activities to produce advanced digital games. Using industry-standard programs and technology, you'll learn how to:
- produce digital animation sequences
- manage technical art and rigging in 3D animations
- animate 3D characters for digital games
- create complex 3D characters for games; and
- create and implement designs for 3D games environments
The units in this skill set are selected from the nationally accredited and recognised ICT training package. Completion of this course may provide credit towards qualifications in ICT and related fields.

This 30-week program, delivered over three terms, provides a comprehensive introduction to the exciting world of 3D game art. This course will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to create professional-quality game assets, from immersive environments to compelling characters.
What you'll learn:
Term 1: Game Environment Production: Design and create stunning game environments, focusing on level design, asset integration, and optimization techniques. Learn to use Quixel Megascans assets and build interactive elements with Blueprints. Bring your environments to life with a short cinematic sequence.
Term 2: Character Creation: Develop your character art skills, from concept and design to modeling, texturing, UV mapping, and the fundamentals of rigging. Create a portfolio-ready robot and a unique stylized humanoid character.
Term 3: Animation and Cinematics: Learn the principles of animation and bring your characters to life. Create a compelling short film showcasing your animation skills within your Term 2 game environment. Build an interactive playable demo to further demonstrate your mastery of bringing a game world to life.
