In September 2021 the State Government announced that native forest logging will come to an end in 2024 in Western Australia, ensuring we protect our forests in our South West region for future generations.
A specialised Native Forest Transition Support Service to assist and support local people will soon be available through a new centre in the local area.
People of all ages are welcome, and all services are free.
The service will offer free support, information and advice about options for training to gain new skills; help and guidance for career planning; assistance with finding employment including updating your CV/resume and writing job applications; and referral to other available support services if required.
It is available primarily available in the local area, with outreach options available.
To access these services, please contact us via phone or email, or use our online enquiry form.

Native Forest Transition Programs
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) is managing a range of Native Forest Transition Programs, which are funded through the WA State Government's $80 million Just Transition Plan announced in September 2021. These programs will provide support to native forestry workers and businesses; drive further diversification of local economies; and assist in identifying and securing sustainable job opportunities.
The plan is being developed in conjunction with local industry, workforce, and the South West community; and will include programs to support workers and local businesses.
The Native Forest Transition Support Service will play a key role in the plan, by supporting local workers into a future pathway — whether it be to retrain with new skills, or to gain new employment.
