Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

Aspire offers the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment through a face to face and online model as part of the PIT existing worker funding.

This qualification has been designed for those delivering training and assessment services in the Vocational Education and Training (VET sector). It is also deemed suitable for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. Achievement of this qualification by trainers is a requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. This qualification (or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it) is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. Often regarded as the most important and fundamental course in the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) industry, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the benchmark qualification for any individual who will be delivering training and assessment in VET.

YOU SHOULD CONSIDER UNDERTAKING THIS QUALIFICATION IF:

  • You are interested in becoming a qualified trainer and assessor
  • You are working in a Registered Training Organisation
  • You are a teacher involved in Vocational Education & Training pathways
  • You are passionate about adult learning

This course is run as a blended delivery of face-to-face classroom learning, live-online learning and self-paced learning. Assessments include short answer questions, simulations, case studies and practicals.

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the industry standard qualification for those who deliver and assess training. This qualification will provide participants with the skills, knowledge and passion to deliver interesting and informative training sessions to groups and individuals, navigate the Australian training system and undertake competency-based assessments against any benchmark or standard.
The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment reflects the role of individuals who are engaged in delivering training and assessment services in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) or other sectors. Students may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in training and assessment.
To enrol in this qualification, participants must have demonstrated vocational competency in a proposed teaching and assessing area, solid language and literacy skills, access to a computer and internet and computer literacy.
The duration of TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is 12-18 months.
The average time it takes to complete varies significantly depending on the skills and knowledge you already hold relevant to training and assessment. If, for example, you are attending the facilitated classes and you have completed the relevant activities, you will still need to allow the following suggested time to complete the qualification.
4 hours a week  – 18 months
6 hours a week – 12 months
Experience in the VET sector in training and assessment can greatly lower the amount of time required to successfully complete the qualification.

Trainwest (RTO Code 51807) deliver the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The course is delivered face to face at our facility in Belmont with assessments to complete outside of these sessions. This course is also delivered Pilbara.
