This course will give you skills and knowledge required for a range of information and communications technology (ICT) roles in a variety of work contexts. It has a particular focus on data science, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for technology solutions including:

  • database development: interpreting specifications, technical designs and flow charts, modifying software applications, constructing technical specifications from models and testing, and writing technical documents;
  • database maintenance: managing, cleaning, storing and verifying organisational data, and evaluating compliance with internal and external data ethics regulations and legislation;
  • programming: building, testing and applying basic object-oriented language skills, user interfaces and software developments; and
  • systems administration support: implementing maintenance procedures and support to help troubleshoot system applications.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to key Data Science techniques, as well as foundational concepts in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Designed to prepare you for further studies at the Diploma level, this course will help you build essential skills in Python programming, data analysis, and research presentation.

You will learn how to critically evaluate and validate data sources, create insightful reports, and develop data-driven applications. We also introduce you to deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, and guide you through the management and warehousing of machine learning datasets. Additionally, you’ll explore the risks associated with AI implementation and gain a foundational understanding of the ethical considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
