Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications

How would you like to be an electronics technician? Get practical hands on learning, and technical training, to assemble, test, maintain, and troubleshoot and repair a range of electronic components and devices.

If you're keen on working as a technician in the field of electronics, the Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications is for you.

This course is a mix of practical hands on learning, and technical training. You'll learn how to assemble, test, maintain, and troubleshoot and repair a range of electronic components and devices;  fault-find in power supplies, amplifiers, communications systems, digital and microcontroller systems; write and test programs to control external devices; and utilise workplace health and safety and sustainability practices.

You'll also gain the skills needed to troubleshoot digital sub-systems, resonance circuits, basic amplifier circuits and amplifiers in an electronic apparatus; fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components, and more!

Completion of this qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

Amp up your career in electronics and telecommunications

Complete the Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications and you’ll have the practical skills and knowledge to work with radio/telecommunication, data systems/cabling and computer network hardware.

This course is delivered on campus over 18 months. If you have completed a Certificate II or a trade certificate in Electronics (or equivalent) you can apply for a credit transfer reducing your study time by either six or 12 months.

This is a WA priority skills course so lower tuition fees apply and employment prospects are higher.

Dual qualification: at the Thornlie campus a second qualification in Certificate IV in Computer Systems may be readily achieved as many units are common to both qualifications. Ask about this exciting option.
