This is an exciting and hands on course where you'll get to work with and learn from other creative people while you get the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in music.

If you'd love to work in the music industry — here, or anywhere in the world, the Certificate II in Music Industry is a great introduction to a musical career in either performance or sound production. 

You'll receive a great overview of the creative arts industry, the music sector in particular, and learn about the technical equipment and computers used in music making. You'll also learn how to record and transform sound, and produce a demo track. 

Depending on where your focus is — performance or sound production — you’ll gain the skills you need to confidently play, sing and perform, or assist with sound recording and editing. 

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

This course is suitable for participants who have mastered basic instrumental skills and are interested in furthering their career in the music industry. 

Students will develop their song writing skills, master stagecraft and develop their music business skills.

Students studying face-to-face will:
  • Build sound engineering skills in live and studio settings
  • Write original songs
  • Make a music demo recording of their original work
  • Build their ensemble skills, working with fellow students to rehearse and perform music
  • Create basic marketing material to kick-start their career

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in various work contexts in the music industry. They use some discretion, judgement and theoretical knowledge, and may undertake routine activities and provide support to a team or work group. They may work in music performance, sound production and music creation and composition within the music business.
