Certificate III in Mobile Crane Operations
Get job ready for a career that will take you to new heights as a mobile crane operator, responsible for the safe operation of the crane and its load. There is a high demand for skilled operators, and this course can get you that job!
As a mobile crane operator you'll be responsible for lifting and positioning heavy equipment around for workplaces such as a wharf, construction site, mine site or shipyard.
Excellent technical skills and good communication is key in this role, as you will be responsible for the safe operation of the crane and its load while working in a team environment.
The Certificate III in Mobile Crane Operations will teach you mobile crane maintenance, safety procedures, and operations, as well as deliver a range of High Risk Work (HRW) licences and permits recognised by Safe Work Australia for operating a range of mobile cranes and work platforms.
Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

This qualification is delivered through a traineeship-based pathway and is designed for individuals who want to gain the skills and knowledge to operate a range of cranes used in the construction industry. Training and assessment is delivered in accordance with the model program developed by the Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA). In addition to completing the Certificate III in Mobile Crane Operations qualification, students must also complete the Mobile Crane Industry Certificate Skill Set developed by the Department of Training and Workforce Development. Trainees will undertake their training through a combination of classroom-based learning at one of our training centres, online work activities, and onsite delivery. Whilst job roles can vary across industry sectors, students can pursue various career opportunities in the construction industry, including working as a:
- Mobile crane operator
- Overhead crane operator
- Hoist operator
- Rigging and dogging specialist
