Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade

This course is suitable for anyone looking for an entry point into mechanical engineering occupation areas such as electrical instrumentation or as a maintenance mechanic within the metals, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries.

Get trades qualified as a fitter and turner, toolmaker, or metal machinist with great job opportunities.

You'll gain a range of skills and knowledge; including performing complex measurements and working to quality standards. You'll learn how to perform grinding and milling operations; undertake tasks related to fitting, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, maintenance and service of mechanical equipment; different types of machinery; and the use of machine tools. You'll also gain your licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above).

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study. Note: This course is usually available only as an apprenticeship.

Learners are often employed in workplace settings like manufacturing plants, factories, foundries, maintenance workshops, or warehousing sites. They may have experience collaborating with production personnel and understand the demands of the engineering industry. Some learners may hold prior qualifications, such as the MEM Manufacturing and Engineering Training Package Certificate II or III and can use credit recognition to accelerate their progress toward completing this higher-level qualification. Overall, this group consists of motivated individuals committed to advancing their careers as engineering tradespersons. They are eager to expand their knowledge, gain specialised skills, and take on advanced roles within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
