Certificate III in Arboriculture (Climbing Arborist)

The Certificate III in Arboriculture is a trade qualification for tree work in Australia. It covers required regulations, with a strong focus on safe work practices and rigging and climbing. You'll learn how to identify different species and types of trees, and what kind of maintenance and other services a particular tree may require — from pruning through to complete dismantle and removal.
The course also covers a range of equipment used; including the chain saw, pole saw, and mulcher. It also includes a first aid unit, and an aerial rescue unit. Completion of this course can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.
Please note: This qualification is not eligible for fee-free training if undertaken as an existing worker traineeship (EWT). However; selected qualifications in key industry sectors are available as EWTs, with reduced course fees (limited places may apply). Arboriculture offers a variety of opportunities in the management of high value amenity trees including becoming a professional tree climber, elevated work platform operator, crane and rigging specialist, works coordinator and environmental arborist.
This career will challenge you to become an expert at risk management and in tree biology and ecology, whilst offering the thrill of performing meaningful work close to nature, often at dizzying height, in amongst the leaves and branches of the treetops.
The wise management of trees is growing in profile as we seek to manage our environment in a more sustainable way. A career in arboriculture offers the opportunity to become involved in this transformation.
