This entry level qualification will give you the start you need to work in a hairdressing salon. You will obtain the skills, knowledge and confidence to get your career as a hairdresser underway and improve your opportunities for obtaining a hairdressing apprenticeship.
As a salon assistant you will be the first staff member to greet a client for their appointment. It is your job to provide them with excellent customer service and ensure that the hairdressers have what they need throughout each appointment.

This qualification can be delivered as a School-Based and Aboriginal School-Based Traineeship program delivered with a combination of on-and-off-the-job training in the Perth Metro and Peel Regions.

SHB20121 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is a nationally recognised qualification under the Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package (SHB). Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is the entry level qualification to the make-up industry. The course has been designed for those wanting to develop skills and knowledge to sell, demonstrate and apply cosmetic make-up products to an industry standard. You will learn how to consult with clients, analyse face and skin, and demonstrate how to apply make-up products to suit each individual client’s requirements. You will also develop a range of skills such as how to create the right look for day, evening and special occasions as well as popular make-up techniques. Also learn an introduction to customer service and retail operations, how to promote a range of cosmetic products as well as blow-drying and braiding hair. This course will allow you to develop skills, knowledge & techniques to proceed in this exciting and creative industry. You will attend campus 4 days per week and 1 day home based study. You will be supplied makeup brushes to keep and all other items that are required to undertake the course with support from Trainers, Assessors and LLN support staff.
