Getting an apprenticeship can be very competitive, and employers value people who have already done some training and have skills and knowledge to get started. This course is the perfect way to set yourself up to get an apprenticeship in automotive or mechanical engineering!  

You'll learn how to work safely, build your communication and teamwork skills, learn how to do engineering measurements and calculations, use a variety of hand tools and power tools, and gain hands on workshop experience using different equipment.

This course will help you to obtain a mechanical fitting or machinist apprenticeship that includes making machines, parts, and tools.

When you complete the Certificate II in Engineering Foundations (Mechanical Pre-Apprenticeship) you'll greatly improve your chance of getting a mechanical fitting or machinist apprenticeship in industries such as rail transport infrastructure and maintenance, mining, automotive, or hydraulics.

You will gain the skills and knowledge to be able to operate lathes and milling and drilling machines, make and assemble components, safely use hand and power tools, be able to read measuring tools, read and interpret engineering  drawings, and operate in an engineering workplace observing health and safety guidelines.

This qualification will provide you with practical skills and knowledge in a range of metals and engineering industry areas including mining, manufacturing and marine. You will learn skills in using tools, measuring and calculating, technical drawing and drafting, thermal cutting, metal lathes and milling machines. You will also learn about safety in the workplace, computing and mathematics. You will use the skills you have learned in a classroom workshop environment when undertaking work placement.

Bunbury
