Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology

Through this pre-apprenticeship, you'll gain a nationally recognised and accredited qualification valued by employers in the automotive industry.
You'll learn about the operation of vehicle electric systems and subsystems — including the use of electrical measuring equipment and diagnostics, and also:
- develop skills in interpreting wiring diagrams;
- carry out minor repairs to electrical circuits/systems;
- testing, servicing and replacing batteries;
- basic troubleshooting and soldering techniques; and
- safe working practices and environmental awareness.
This course is the perfect pathway into a full apprenticeship — you'll have exactly the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for! Completion of this course can also provide credit towards a higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

Learners develop the principles underpinning the operation of vehicle electric systems and subsystems. They learn to use electrical measuring equipment; develop skills in interpreting wiring diagrams; testing electrical circuits to confirm correct operation including lighting and ancillary systems, charging and starting systems; basic troubleshooting and soldering techniques. Learners develop safe working practices and environmental awareness when developing solutions to planning and managing automotive vehicle electrical systems.
