The Certificate I in General Education for Adults is a bridging course to future employment or study. Completing this course will improve your English, introduce you to the fundamentals of basic numeracy, and build your computer and technology skills.  It will also help you build the confidence and skills you need to enter the workforce or further study.

When successfully completed this course will meet the entry requirements for most Certificate II TAFE courses.

Please note this is course is not equivalent to completing years 10, 11 or 12.

Using a combination of structured teaching and unstructured learning activities, students will build your skills in working with numbers and money, creating computer-based texts, directions, teamwork and job seeking to grow confidence and employability skills. 

Training is built around a flexible strength-based framework, allowing students to pursue their interests and incorporate your own life experiences into your learning.   This course is available at other campus locations upon request. The Certificate I in General Education for Adults will meet the entry requirements for most Certificate II, III or IV level TAFE courses.

This CGEA course provides opportunity for skills and confidence development in reading, writing, numeracy and basic information technology skills. This qualification is designed to meet personal needs, facilitate community participation, or workplace and further education and training options.

Certificate I outcomes focus on the development of literacy skills to create and interpret simple, personally relevant texts and mathematical knowledge to apply numeracy skills in everyday familiar situations.  Skills and knowledge are applied to develop and document a learning plan, prepare a portfolio to show evidence of learning and engage in a project.
