As a Prison Officer you will have the opportunity to work in a diverse range of facilities and interact with minimum to maximum security prisoners on a 24/7 roster system.  Prison Officer functions ensure the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the prison and management of prisoners. You can make a positive difference to those you work with by role modelling behaviours and motivating prisoners to gain skills and knowledge, reduce re-offending and re-enter the community.

Special Operations Group Officers based in Canning Vale, Western Australia
As a member of our disciplined Special Operations Group (SOG) you will provide armed security support and emergency response for all correctional facilities within WA on a 24/7 roster system. SOG duties also include searches, high-security escorts, surveillance, and intelligence gathering. SOG officers are required to demonstrate good judgement under pressure, a flexible work ethic and an ongoing commitment to physical fitness and resilience.

One of the best ways to find out about the various aspects to this multi-faceted role is by attending one of our Information Sessions.  This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the role, the selection process and interact with experienced staff who work within the prisons.

  • An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal people and their culture.
