This is a full-time apprenticeship position with pay rates per outlined in the Hospitality Industry Award.

 Toodyay Hotel is looking to appoint a 1st year Commercial cook apprentice who has a desire to gain a nationally trade qualification under the guidance and mentorship of our highly skilled Head chefs’ team. 

The heritage listed hotel (Formerly named Freemasons Hotel) is over 160 years old and has been largely dormant for the last 8 months. Currently undergoing renovation, we are excited to bring a new team and new life to the Hotel, reopening in March 2024.

Selection criteria

To be considered, potential candidates ideally meet the following criteria;

  • Reside within a reasonable proximity of our venue in our best effort to support local employment opportunities within the Toodyay shire.
  • Be passionate to work within the culinary arts and show interest and dedication to different food style trends, presentations, flavours, and food cultures.
  • Be available to work days and weekends as required on changing rosters at the discretion of the Head chef.
  • Be dedicated to attend all training days routinely as required and complete all TAFE block training within the specified period to achieve an above average result upon course completion.
  • Have reliable transport to the workplace and training institution throughout the apprenticeship
  • Be currently in atte.ndance at high school within Year 10, 11 or 12 and able to demonstrate average or above average results across all subjects.
  • Demonstrate a 90% school attendance.
  • Must be a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.
     

The successful applicant will be joining our team in March 2024 upon commencement of our grand opening re-launch. We will provide the opportunity to gain a high level of experience within all aspects of food preparation and service, to include a la carte dining/corporate functions/ seated fine dining events/buffet dining/street food marque and static event dining/wedding & special event dining.
