Western Australia is a world leader in livestock farming, and the industry needs people who are skilled at handling livestock in accordance with animal welfare standards and best practice techniques.
With this short course skill set, you'll gain the skills and knowledge needed to work with livestock including cows, pigs and sheep.
You’ll learn about animal welfare legislation and how to handle and manage livestock — including mustering and moving — in a safe way that minimises stress to the animals; basic techniques for handling livestock in a farm or production environment — including understanding animal behaviour — identifying and drafting different livestock; and how to administer routine medications.
This skill set consists of units from nationally recognised and accredited qualifications. Successful completion can provide credit, should you pursue further study in a related qualification.
