The Integrating Mental Health Practice Skill Set will equip workers in the community services sector with the skills to assist clients who are experiencing mental health concerns, and respond to the increasing need for mental health awareness.
The community mental health sector values employees with strong soft skills and the capacity to provide person-centred, recovery-focussed care. The skill set provides people who are interested in working in the sector the opportunity to determine if it is the right fit for them, and understand and develop foundational skills for entry into the sector.
This skill set consists of units from nationally recognised and accredited qualifications. Successful completion can provide credit, should you pursue further study in a related qualification.

The Integrating Mental Health Practice Skill Set will give you the skills to assist and support clients who are experiencing mental health concerns, and respond to the increasing need for mental health awareness.This training is ideal for people currently working with — or experienced in — a person-centred care model within the community services, healthcare or people services sectors who would like to integrate mental health support skills and knowledge into their work practice; or considering a move into a mental health specialisation role.
You'll gain skills in providing support services to people with mental health issues, including those at risk of suicide or with alcohol and other drug issues; recognising and responding to crisis situations; managing personal stress in the workplace; and working with diverse people.
*Please note, it is highly recommended that you should be working in or have experience in the field.

You will learn to work effectively and appropriately with a diverse range of individuals and groups suffering mental health, drug and alcohol issues.

Further study pathways available to learners who undertake this qualification include progression to the CHC43315, Certificate IV in Mental Health. Activ Pathways offer flexible delivery options throughout WA – including metro and regional locations Government funded places for this qualification may be available under the Priority Industry Training and Traineeship funding models, subject to eligibility.
