If you want to launch your career in media broadcasting, the Diploma of Screen and Media (Radio and Podcasting) could be the qualification for you. This is an exciting field, with great creativity and innovation happening globally and excellent career opportunities.

Whether you have your heart set on a career in radio or want to start your own professional podcast, this course will give you a solid introduction to the creative arts industry in Australia, and you’ll learn how to establish yourself up as a freelancer. 

You'll learn about establishing a creative practice and establishing your creative projects while you gain technical skills in broadcasting — learning on industry standard equipment and programs. Units include producing programs and program segments; on-air presentation techniques; sound production and editing (including dialogue); and much more.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

Get the skills you need to start in the radio industry

Radio is an exciting, dynamic industry, filled with passionate, articulate people. This course will give you the skills to produce or present your own radio show or podcast, entertaining and informing people and becoming a part of their daily lives.

You will develop a wide skill set in all aspects of the radio industry, from presenting on live radio and digital mediums, to working behind the scenes in audio production and event management. You will take part in building a radio station from scratch, and be given opportunities to present on our campus radio station, BOOM Radio, helping you to develop industry networks and practical experience.

Boom Radio is run by our students who are in their second and final year, studying an Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Radio Broadcasting).
