Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging

Learn all the latest techniques and tricks in digital imaging and editing; and get skills in business, publishing systems, marketing and photographic illustration, and responding to client needs.

With this course, you'll discover how to take even more spectacular shots in a range of contexts and to manipulate the environment around you to enhance your photography; plus all the latest techniques and tricks in digital imaging and editing.

You'll gain skills and knowledge in taking and developing photographs to create commercial, fine art, landscape, advertorial and editorial, documentary, portrait and stock photo images; managing media assets; and composing, capturing, processing and enhancing images using various techniques and the latest industry software and programs. 

You'll also learn about production of digital images; camera techniques; lighting, studio and location work; plus get skills in business, publishing systems, marketing and photographic illustration as well as understanding and responding to client needs and aesthetics. You will also have the opportunity to gain specialised skills in industrial and scientific photography, fine art photography or photojournalism.

Note: This course is best suited for people who already have some background or experience in this field. If you're unsure, please seek advice from the training provider to see whether this course is the right choice for you.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

This course blends theoretical and practical skills in photography and digital imaging. You’ll learn to create powerful and effective images for a range of audiences and genres.

Our lecturers are industry professionals with ‘real world’ experience. You will develop a thorough understanding of photo design and theory around the changing nature of the creative industries, while developing your own style.

As part of your studies, you’ll have the opportunity to network with award winning professional photographers through a range industry events.

Please note this course is only offered to commence study in semester 1 each year.
