Diploma of Marine Engineering (Engineer Watchkeeper)

This qualification meets some of the requirements for certification as an Engineer Watchkeeper by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to perform the duties or functions of an engineer watchkeeper officer on ships of any propulsion power in any operating area; second engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in any operating area; or chief engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in near coastal waters.

 Through this training, you can get certified to perform the duties or functions of:

  • an engineer watchkeeper officer on ships of any propulsion power in any operating area;
  • second engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in any operating area; or
  • chief engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in near coastal waters.

This qualification can set you up for a fantastic career in marine engineering!

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.
