Elevate your career pathway in the specialised area of advanced networking, and gain the skills and knowledge to install and manage complex ICT networks, design and build network servers, manage network security, install an enterprise virtual computing environment, and plan, implement and test enterprise communication solutions. 

With this training, you'll gain advanced networking skills for employment in this in-demand industry. You'll learn how to configure and manage virtual computing environments, and identify and mitigate security issues within Information and Communication Technology (ICT) networks.

You will also gain the skills and knowledge to install and manage complex ICT networks, design and build network servers, manage network security and install an enterprise virtual computing environment. In addition you will learn to plan, implement and test enterprise communication solutions. This course has embedded studies in Cisco, Microsoft Server and VMware.

This is the Diploma where networking goes from “I understand it” to “I can run it.” You’ll manage complex networks, configure virtualisation, administer Microsoft 365, and work with Linux and VMware, all while embedding industry standards into your daily practice. You’ll also gain real-world help desk experience — with many graduates securing employment before they even finish.

What you will build
  • Complex networks built and managed across Cisco, Microsoft Server, Linux and VMware
  • Working configuration of virtual computing environments and active directories
  • Real help-desk experience on our dedicated training network
  • Project management and client communication skills employers expect at this level
  • Confidence administering Microsoft 365 and managing data storage at scale

New students who have not completed either a Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) or Certificate IV in Cyber Security, or equivalent, should contact the area to ensure they apply for the correct level of study.

Our state-of-the-art Training Cyber Security Operations Centre (TCSOC) provides a secure training environment designed to simulate realistic cyber-attacks relating to attack, defence and monitoring. The TCSOC provides a multi-campus centre based in Murdoch with ‘nodes’ at Thornlie and Rockingham campuses in order for all IT students to experience this leading edge training.

The Centre for IT Excellence (CITE) provides state of the art, industry relevant training in information technology and creative media. We provide pathways from foundation studies to advanced diploma with specialist training in cyber security, networking, programming and digital media.

Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship Program

If you are studying a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aviation, Cyber Security, Engineering, IT, Logistics, or Project Management then you are eligible to apply.

The Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship Program (DIIGS), funded by the State Government, has various grants (starting at $2,500) and work placement opportunities that could set you up for a career in the defence industry. Read more about DIIGS and how to apply.
