Through this training, you'll become a qualified beauty therapist. In addition to gaining business skills and knowledge, you'll learn how to deliver a wide range of specialist beauty treatments using a range of equipment and tools.
Depending on your training provider, you'll be able to select specialist units in body massage, lash and brow services, facials and skin care treatments, waxing, makeup application and design, manicures and pedicures, piercings, and more. You can also gain specialist skills in electrolysis, relaxation massage, or spa treatments.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

You will learn skills in a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services that include facials, specialised facials, body massage, waxing, lash and brow treatments, make-up, aromatherapy, spray tan, lash extensions and skills in retail and sales operations. You will also learn about reflexology, Indian head massage, hot stone massage and micro-dermabrasion.
Our Diploma of Beauty Therapy course will give you the skills to start up your own business and to work in the industry. You will also learn the tips of small business promotion to be successful in a very competitive market.

You will gain the skills to start up your own business and to work in industry. You'll also learn the essentials of small business promotion to be successful in a very competitive market. Once qualified you could find yourself working at a day spa or salon.
We have two live clinics conveniently located in Perth and Joondalup. The course delivered in Joondalup will introduce you to a broad range of the beauty salon services and is run at our McLarty Avenue campus.
A valuable part of our course is ongoing practical demonstration of your skills, so you will be need to bring live models to class as required.
This course is also offered as a part-time evening course each semester.
Delivery locations
This course provides theory training in IPL and LASER units required to work with these modalities in industry. Along with a dermal science and advanced skin care treatment focus.
Be trained by industry specialists in our well-equipped beauty clinic rooms, using a wide range of professional products and technologies, including Dermalogica and Medik8 skin care, and MAC, Crown, Kryolan and LA girl makeup.
At South Metro TAFE your fees are inclusive of all training products and equipment for the entirety of your course. You will receive a take-home makeup brush kit to start you on your makeup journey. Additional purchases include a beauty tunic, textbook and linen for class use.
On completion of this course, you will gain a Laser Safety Officer Certificate. This certificate is recognised by the Radiological Council of Western Australia under the Radiation Safety Act This certificate is a prerequisite for laser licensing in Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania, and is required to gain licensing for use by non-medical practitioners to use laser for cosmetic procedures.
