During this training you will learn to perform ground operations duties in support of commercial airlines or the Australian Defence Forces ADF. Be guided by our expert lecturers who are industry professionals as you learn to apply technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge in support of a wide range of aerodrome and air transport operations. 

This course will provide you with high-level skills in passenger, charter, cargo, emergency service and government operations. You'll be equipped with solid knowledge in key areas such as aviation risk management, implementing fatigue strategies, facilitating quality audits and managing disruptive behaviour and unlawful interference with aviation. 

You'll also learn leadership techniques and develop your personal style as you build skills in managing team effectiveness, using emotional intelligence and how to lead and foster effective workplace relationships. 

This course will get you job ready for supervisory roles, where you could lead a ground crew or aviation maintenance crew. You'll be qualified for roles such as Aerodrome Manager, Safety Manager, Operations Manager or Business Manager.  

Study in specialised facilities: 

South Metropolitan TAFE's AeroSpace Training Centre at Jandakot campus is the largest provider in WA offering training in aircraft maintenance and aviation. Our lecturer team is made up of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds including international licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Airline Transport Pilots, Airport Managers, Flight Instructors, Cabin Crew Training Managers, Emergency Procedures Instructors, RAAF Maintenance Supervisors, as well as military and commercial Aviators and Managers.

The main campus building includes a 1,500 square metre fully equipped hangar facility that houses various aircraft engines, workshop stations, computer facilities, a flight simulator and a number of aircraft including a Boeing 737.

Our Boeing 737 is maintained in a fully serviceable condition and used as a non-flying static training facility for students across an array of training courses, from pilot studies, to cabin crew, to aircraft maintenance, and even safety and ground handling.

You'll learn hands-on practical skills in a real-world environment, which will help you boost your employability and transition smoothly to the workplace.
