Community Support Skill Set
Skill up for community support work with this short course — Includes your first aid certificate! Gain the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, management and other industry providers; and provide a first aid response to a casualty with a focus on support in a community setting.
This short course skill set is designed to provide both new and existing community services and care/support workers with the knowledge and skills to provide care and wellbeing support to individuals in a community setting.
You will gain the knowledge and skills to follow safe work practices; follow and apply safe manual handling practices and infection control procedures; communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, management and other industry providers; and provide a first aid response to a casualty. The training focuses on support provided in a community setting.
This skill set consists of units from nationally recognised and accredited qualifications. Successful completion can provide credit, should you pursue further study in a related qualification.

This skill set is designed to equip both new and existing workers in the community services and care/support roles with the essential skills to communicate effectively and provide person-centred care that supports individual wellbeing in a community setting.

This skillset gives you the skills for a rewarding career in aged care, community home care, disability care or community-based organisations. This skillset is designed for those working in a residential home, retirement home, respite centre or visit clients in their own home and want to gain further knowledge and skills or people new to the industry who would like an introduction into support work for further study or employment. An experienced, local ATC Work Smart Trainer/Assessor will support you every step of the way with your training and lead you to success. You will be provided with face to face training and offered guidance and support in the workplace. This skillset is part of the government's FEE FREE initiative where you won’t pay any course fees from the 1st January 2024 and can be delivered as part of the Job Ready program. These 3 units are delivered in a classroom setting with 70 hours of work placement at the end of the 2 week training.
