Certificate IV in Engineering (Fluid Power)

Hydraulics, pneumatics, it's all great to work on and there's so many job opportunities here! Through this course you'll learn all about equipment calibration and the monitoring and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid power systems.

If you want to build high level skills and knowledge in fluid power machinery and systems, to work as a specialist hydraulics fitter or mechanic, this is the course for you. You could be working on mining equipment, large transportation vehicles, even submarines!

This training covers equipment calibration and the monitoring and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid power systems; giving you practical skills and knowledge to analyse, inspect, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, maintain fluid power controls, monitor equipment condition, and manage workplace health and safety.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

This qualification supports individuals seeking to advance their careers by expanding trade-level competencies, particularly in areas such as mechanical maintenance or hydraulics. Learners may already work in roles such as mechanical maintenance tradespersons, they aim to enhance their skills and knowledge to take on advanced responsibilities, including working with hydraulic systems and other specialised engineering applications. This group often includes individuals employed in settings like manufacturing plants, factories, foundries, maintenance workshops and warehousing sites. They typically have experience collaborating with production personnel and are familiar with the operational demands of the engineering industry. Some learners may hold relevant qualifications, such as the MEM Manufacturing and Engineering Training Package Certificate III and can leverage credit recognition to streamline their pathway to completing this advanced qualification. Overall, these motivated and experienced individuals are committed to career progression as higher-level engineering tradespersons. They are eager to broaden their knowledge, master new skills, including hydraulics, and transition into specialised roles within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
