The UEE40420 Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation is a nationally recognised post-trade qualification designed to help electricians acquire the competencies needed to select, install, commission, fault-find, maintain, and calibrate electrical and instrumentation equipment. Training combines theoretical learning with hands-on practical experience, ensuring participants are job-ready and confident in their abilities. OVERVIEW
This nationally accredited qualification provides  licenced electricians with the training, skills and knowledge required for the functional operation,  calibration and fault finding of basic industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment.  It also provides skill sets in working with pressure, level, temperature, and flow and their  application to analytical instruments for process and control.
REQUIREMENTS
Current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence  or equivalent issued in an Australian State or  Territory.

The Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation, provides a pathway for a licensed electrician to gain a nationally recognised qualification in instrumentation. 

The qualifications cover theoretical and practical skills and knowledge to be able to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain equipment and systems for the control of plant, machines and processes.

Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation - This qualification provides competencies to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment in buildings and premises, and instrumentation systems and core instrumentation equipment for process and control. You'll learn about engineering maths, P & I diagrams, feedback systems, pressure, level, flow, and temperature analysis, fluid power, pneumatic instruments,  variable speed drives, and much more! You'll also learn how to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment, to be employed within process control in industries such as automation, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, food and beverage. This qualification is designed for a qualified tradesperson with an electrical background, but it may be suitable for people without a trades background — please check with the TAFE or training provider delivering the program, and they will be able to advise on its suitability for you. Completion of this qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher-level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field. UEE40420 Qualification is first step for licenced Electricians and Electrical Engineers to gain skills and competencies to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment in buildings and premises and instrumentation systems and core instrumentation equipment for process and control.
This qualification provides competencies to enter the oil and gas or mineral processing industry which uses PLC interfaces with HART compliant field instrumentation where Instrumentation technician can:
•    Monitor process plant and equipment conditions.
•    Optimise process by analysing historical process and equipment performance trends.
•    Record process deviation from desired process conditions.
•    Undertake equipment and process health diagnostic and plan its overhaul/ repair or prior any breakdown.
•    Respond to triggered process and shutdown alarms to operate the plant safely.

In this traineeship program, the candidate will undergo one on one practical training with industry experienced, qualified Instrument and Electrical Trainers. You will be exposed to hands on practicals in the following technologies: Flow - configuration and control, Pressure (suppression/elevation of transmitter), Radar / Ultrasonic configuration, Capacitance level configuration, Temperature (RTD / Thermocouples), PLC and HMI configuration, Configuration of smart devices via Hart modem and hand held configurator, P&ID control and Understanding how to test that Magnetic flow meter are operational.

The training includes the following:

1. Work placement practical (2 site visits) – Logbook to be provided by TSA (Online tracking via TSA Tracking portal) – (200 hours in total)
2. Self-paced learning for soft skills and technical units – Self-paced assessments to be competed (100 hours) 
3. Face-to-face in class - either One day (Friday) per fortnight or 2 x Weeks block
