Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Movement and Mobility Support)

Get qualified as an Allied Health Assistant with a focus on movement and mobility support, with the skills and knowledge to skills to assist patients with rehabilitation, independence, and daily activities and regain mobility after injury, illness, or disability. 

This nationally recognised and accredited qualification will give you the skills and knowledge to work as an allied health assistant (AHA) providing therapeutic and program-related support to individuals in health, aged care, disability, and other settings where allied health professionals such as physiotherapists or occupational therapists deliver services. 

You will learn how to assist in identifying circumstances and risks, and reporting issues as required, as well as how to Assist clients with movement for physical mobility, deliver and monitor physical / manual therapy programs, prevent falls, and support independence.

Training includes a clinical placement component, where you will gain hands on skills and experience. 

This course is ideal for anyone with a healthcare background seeking to specialise as an AHA, or as a pathway to further studies in allied health professions.

This Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Movement and Mobility Support) reflects the role of allied health assistants who provide therapeutic and program-related support to individuals in health, aged care, disability, and other settings where Allied Health Professionals deliver services. Allied health assistants work under the delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals, assisting in identifying circumstances and risks, and reporting issues as required.

Supervision may be direct, indirect, or remote and must occur within organisational requirements, according to the individual assistant’s scope of practice and experience. They may work within a single discipline or in multidisciplinary roles across health, aged care, disability, and other service environments, and may also have responsibility for supporting other allied health assistance workers within their scope of practice.

To achieve this qualification, candidates must complete at least 120 hours of clinical placement, as specified in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
