Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice

This training addresses the specific legislative responsibilities of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, and is required for national registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.

This course is designed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people working to provide a range of clinical primary health care services to clients and communities.

The job roles aligned with this course include developing and implementing community-based healthcare programs, providing advice and assistance with medication, administration of medication; and providing general healthcare services across the community.

This training addresses the specific legislative responsibilities of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners and is required for national registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study. 

Please note: This qualification is not eligible for fee-free training if undertaken as an existing worker traineeship (EWT). However; selected qualifications in key industry sectors are available as EWTs, with reduced course fees (limited places may apply). Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd. (KAMS) offers training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners in the Kimberley region of WA. Training consists of multiple 2 week study blocks at our campus in Broome as well as local clinical placements over the course of 18 months. Our next intake commences July 2025.
