Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (Mobile Plant Equipment)

Get the skills you need to work on earthmoving machinery, excavators, cranes, hoists and other mobile plant for a range of industry areas including mining, and building and construction.

This course offers a range of skills and knowledge including how to safely diagnose and repair compression ignition engines, electrical circuits, diesel fuel injection systems, and a range of steering, hydraulic, and braking systems on heavy machinery.

This role involves working on plant equipment, vehicles and lifting equipment used across a range of industry areas including building and construction and mining. 

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

Please note, this course can only be accessed by an employed apprentice, if this course interests you, please speak to your employer or employment agency about signing up as an apprentice.

This course will set you up for a career in the automotive service, repair, and retail industry; working on a range of exciting mobile plant machinery such as earthmoving and lifting equipment used across a range of industry areas including building and construction and mining.

You will learn how to diagnose and repair drivelines, drive assemblies, engines, torque converters, suspension, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, transmission and steering; repair basic electrical wiring and circuits; weld and do thermal cutting; work safely; and much more!

Training is delivered in modern workshops with industry standard tools and equipment.

When you complete the Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology you'll be ready for a career in the mobile plant industry.

A post-trade crossover course is available to holders of an Automotive Trade utilising gap training and Recognition of Prior Learning.

This course aims to prepare learners for a career in mobile plant technology. You will gain skills and knowledge in mobile plant technologies, including steering, braking and hydraulic systems. You will learn how to carry out diagnostic procedures and undertake appropriate repairs, identifying and applying safe work practices in the heavy automotive industry.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of mobile plant machinery in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. You will need to be employed and registered as an apprentice before you can undertake this course.
