This qualification includes an introduction to the forest and wood products industry and covers all the need-to-know skills and knowledge. Depending on your training provider, you may be able to choose units to specialise in forest nursery production, silviculture, or timber harvesting and haulage.
You'll gain a range of skills and knowledge including worksite communication and safety, environmental protection procedures, operating machinery including a backhoe and loader, how to access, capture and communicate forestry field data using mobile devices; soil and water protection, cultural heritage protection, remote first aid, and much more!
You will also gain your licence to operate a vehicle loading crane to capacity 10 metre tonnes and above.
Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

This includes applying knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and protecting the environment, including the areas of cultural significance. They are also expected to operate equipment according to workplace procedures and conduct work tasks specific to a forest operation.
At this level, workers complete tasks under limited supervision and collaborate with others to meet productivity requirements.

FITS Training Service offers Traineeships in FWP30122 Certificate III in Forest Operations. FITS offers publically funded and fee for service training. For convenience, all training programs are delivered to meet students needs in familiar format with face-to-face tuition onsite at your workplace. FITS will create a training program to suit your employees individual needs. The duration of the course in 12-18 months depending on the units of competency chosen. After attending a meeting with FITS trainers to discuss options, FITS will confirm all fees associated with your training program. The tuition fees will be an indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as student service fees and resources.
