Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade

This course is for trades including boilermakers, blacksmiths, welders, sheetmetal workers and others working in the metal fabrication and welding fields — whether you want to pursue the creative, engineering or structural side of fabrication. You'll gain skills and knowledge to work safely in metal fabrication and learn how to use a variety of industry tools and machinery.

This course is for trades including boilermakers, blacksmiths, welders, sheetmetal workers and others working in the metal fabrication and welding fields — whether you want to pursue the creative, engineering or structural side of fabrication — this is for you!

You'll gain skills and knowledge to work safely in metal fabrication — including the use of chemicals; and learn how to perform complex measurements, use a variety of industry tools and machinery for different welding processes including flux core arc, and working to quality standards. You'll also learn how to do heat treatments and testing including inspections, set and edit computer controlled machines and processes, and lathe operations.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.

Metal Fabricators mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessels as well as structural steel erections, sheet metal work, welding, blacksmithing and surface finishing. Sheet metal and light metals are used as a building material for roofs, heating ventilation, air-conditioning duct systems, guttering and downpipes, windows and door frames, fasteners and flashings for homes and other buildings. Carey Training provides you with the opportunity to undertake MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication qualification as part of an apprenticeship and can only be undertaken through a Training Contract or through formal trade recognition assessment process. Your training will include hands on interactive training that covers the skills and knowledge required of the Engineering-Tradesperson - Fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries and has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the apprentices undertaking this training and seeking a career in this field. K.L MILLS & N.A MILLS T/A NAM Training facilitate apprenticeships in MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade. These are delivered by a combination of on and off the job training and assessment at the apprentices’ workplace in employer provided venues. Units of competency are selected to meet workplace and industry standards. Unit selection can be tailored to suit abrasive blasting/industrial painting, anodising/electroplating and/or powder coating. Training is delivered face to face, one on one or groups of apprentices, depending on apprentices’ and workplace needs. Our trainer negotiates the training and assessment arrangements with enterprise representatives who are responsible for current work skills training in the workplace, and with site management officials where applicable. Some of the apprenticeship may be achieved by formal skills recognition processes, such as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where suitable. Apprentices may take 6-48 months to complete the apprenticeship. The enrolment term depends on the current skills and knowledge of the apprentice and is negotiated with the apprentice and the employer.

This qualification is designed for employees in metal, engineering, manufacturing, and related industries, including those working in manufacturing plants, factories, shipyards, and similar environments. It caters to individuals involved in critical engineering tasks such as welding fabrication, production, surface preparation, surface finishing, and related activities. The qualification defines the trade-level competencies required by engineering tradespersons performing advanced tasks. Graduates can pursue roles specializing in surface preparation and cleaning of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, masonry, and cementitious components, as well as other roles in surface finishing and related engineering operations. This qualification is open to both direct entry candidates and trade-qualified individuals, who may be eligible for credit recognition based on prior learning and experience. While there are no formal entry requirements, it is assumed that learners are either tradespersons with access to structured on- and off-the-job training or apprentices undertaking training through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. By achieving this qualification, individuals can enhance their technical skills, meet industry standards, and advance their careers within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
