This is a comprehensive and flexible course designed to give employees the necessary broad-based business skills and knowledge to work effectively in an administrative or customer service job role within a business environment. This course is designed for workplace-based trainees who are already employed in a business or administrative role and are seeking to broaden their skills and knowledge and/or have existing vocational competencies recognized formally. The qualification reflects the varied roles of individuals across different industry sectors who apply a broad range of competencies and are required to use some discretion and judgement, as well as develop their own technical knowledge. The typical learner is expected to have completed high school education and be employed either full time or part time in a role that enables them to complete the requirements of the qualification. They will have some existing skills and knowledge relevant to the Business / Administration sector as a result of their job role, possibly including some formal, non-accredited workplace training, and they will be able to build on this through completion of the qualification. Target learners are likely to have acceptable LL&N levels, although individual learners may experience minor barriers in this regard. It is likely that learners will be based in both Perth and regional Western Australia.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a range of complex customer service/business administration roles. Duties at this level would include working with multiple communication channels, providing excellent customer service, adhering to key performance indicators, working in a team environment, providing support to a team, providing technical advice, and capturing data. Individuals would work under supervision but may have some authority to delegate. There are 13 units in total, 6 core units and 7 elective units, elective units are relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. To maximise the learning outcomes WAIFS makes sure that there are always two trainers available. This is to ensure students’ needs gets addressed on a timely manner and they get more time with their trainer to learn.
