Master Essential Skills for the Resources and Infrastructure Industry!
This qualification is designed for individuals working in the resources and infrastructure industries, focusing on routine tasks and procedures. It equips learners with limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge, while also instilling a sense of responsibility for the quality of their work outcomes.
This course serves as a pathway qualification, preparing individuals to successfully undertake a sector-specific Certificate III from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.
Delivery location
This broad qualification will give you practical foundation skills you need to carry out a range of basic tasks in the resource and infrastructure sectors, such as mining and mineral exploration, drilling and construction.
This course has been carefully crafted with industry insights, providing a blend of theoretical understanding and practical training. This course is ideal for candidates who are:
- looking to start a career in mining, civil construction, or infrastructure
- wanting to improve their employability in the resources industry
- needing essential workplace safety and operational training
Students will be required to attend the Thornlie campus for theory classes and simulated site activities on a 3,000m2 simulated civil construction site. Students will have access to specialist equipment and space requirements for the units in this qualification.

Metal Fabricators mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessels as well as structural steel erections, sheet metal work, welding, blacksmithing and surface finishing. Sheet metal and light metals are used as a building material for roofs, heating ventilation, air-conditioning duct systems, guttering and downpipes, windows and door frames, fasteners and flashings for homes and other buildings. Carey Training provides you with the opportunity to undertake MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication qualification as part of an apprenticeship and can only be undertaken through a Training Contract or through formal trade recognition assessment process. Your training will include hands on interactive training that covers the skills and knowledge required of the Engineering-Tradesperson - Fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries and has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the apprentices undertaking this training and seeking a career in this field.
