With this short course skill set, you'll gain entry level skills and knowledge to install, maintain and modify telecommunications customer cabling in domestic and commercial premises, in accordance with Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) requirements. 

Completing this course could lead you to a career as a technician or engineer in a range of areas including telecommunications, cyber security, security, and network infrastructure.

No previous knowledge or experience is required.

This short course skill set consists of units from nationally recognised and accredited qualifications. Successful completion can provide credit should you pursue further study in a related qualification.

This six-week skill set course equips learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills to install, maintain, and modify telecommunications customer cabling in residential and commercial settings, in compliance with Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) standards.

Training is delivered flexibly to support working professionals, with access to online resources and self-paced learning. Assessments are arranged as needed with the assessor. Foundational units are completed first to build core competencies before progressing to advanced topics.

This course will cover:

  • ICTTEN202 Use hand and power tools
  • ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
  • ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks
  • ICTCBL247 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule

The amount of training for this qualification is 205 hours spread over 6 weeks generally throughout one term at approximately 36 hours per week. More specifically this includes:

  • 139 hours of flexible learning via online LMS
  • 38 hours of supervised workshop activities
  • 30 Hours of assessment
  • 28 Hours of Face to Face
