From cyber security student to award winning cyber security specialist!

Kai completed multiple online courses and competitions before enrolling in a Certificate III at North Metropolitan TAFE. He then progressed through to the Advanced Diploma and at just 16 years old secured a part time job as a security analyst in Woodside Energy's cyber security operations team where he is the youngest security analyst on staff.

In this short video, Kai talks about his work monitoring and responding to global threats to his employer's business such as fishing emails, password attacks, new malware. His favourite thing about the work is never knowing what the day is going to bring.

Kai’s TAFE lecturers nominated him for the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) Cyber Security Student of the Year Award where he attended the AISA conference as one of three national cybersecurity finalists. In August 2023, Kai won a gold medal at the WorldSkills Australia National Championship and was selected to represent Australia at the WorldSkills International competition in 2024.
